About Us

Welcome to De La Salle College, home to over 1,000 students across three distinctive campuses: Tiverton, Holy Eucharist, and Kinnoull. Designed to support every phase of your son’s development, our campuses are the foundation for a journey toward personal excellence. Embracing an open enrollment policy, we offer a contemporary learning environment for all.

Since its foundation in 1912, De La Salle College has dedicated itself to providing a holistic Catholic education rooted in the Lasallian tradition for boys in Years 5 — 12. As a non-zoned institution, we proudly welcome students from across the Melbourne metropolitan area, blending tradition and innovation in education.

At De La Salle College, we’re not just a learning community; we embody the very essence of personal excellence. Our mission extends beyond education; we aim to ignite a passion for greatness in every student, in all facets of their lives.

Our mission is clear: to prepare our young men not only to thrive in society but to lead it. With a foundation deeply rooted in the Lasallian faith experience, we instil in our students the values of respect, inclusion, and the desire to welcome all.

De La Salle College proudly upholds an academically non-selective, open enrolment policy. We provide the infrastructure, support, and technology needed for every student to achieve his personal and professional aspirations.

Our curriculum and extracurricular programs are designed to nurture future citizens who are not only aware of their democratic rights and responsibilities but are also prepared to defend and promote them.

Message from the Principal - Peter Houlihan

Welcome to De La Salle College, a Catholic school in the Lasallian tradition.

At De La Salle, our students learn, live and lead. A simple philosophy, but very important as boys learn to take on leadership roles and become active members of the school community.

Most importantly, we deliver a quality education in all subjects and provide students with the skills to be active and successful citizens in today’s society.

De La Salle continually strives to build and improve the programs to enable our young men to be educated in a respectful and encouraging, contemporary learning environment where strong family values and academic achievement are reinforced.

Come join us!

Academic Excellence

De La Salle continually strives to build and improve the programs to enable our young men to be educated in a respectful and encouraging, contemporary learning environment where strong family values and academic achievement are reinforced. Our teachers know and understand boys. We encourage leadership, vision and innovation in teaching and learning and support students’ growth via a focused student wellbeing program.

We are also a community where the desire to achieve academically, and according to one’s abilities, is fundamental. As a comprehensive school, we attempt to tailor all our programs to provide the optimal learning environment for each and every student, where each can achieve personal excellence.

Beginning with the close-knit, familial atmosphere of Years 5 and 6, students progressively engage in wider, more complex experiences through Years 7 and 8, evolving within a framework that is both supportive and challenging. This journey is designed to expand their horizons and foster personal growth. By Year 9, students are immersed in addressing real-world problems, honing teamwork and independence. Year 10 broadens this exploration with a diverse range of subject choices, laying the groundwork for the pivotal decisions between the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) and the VCE Vocational Major in subsequent years.

At De La Salle College, our Gifted and Talented Education Program (GATE) is specifically tailored to recognise and nurture the unique potential of our gifted and talented students. Our holistic approach ensures that these exceptional learners are not only academically challenged but also receive comprehensive pastoral and curricular support. By accurately assessing and cultivating their individual strengths, we aim to foster an environment where their talents are celebrated, and their intellectual curiosity is continuously ignited.

Student Development & Wellbeing

At De La Salle College, the wellbeing of each student is our paramount concern. We understand that wellbeing is a multifaceted concept, encompassing both physical practices and mental perceptions. Our holistic approach ensures that students are nurtured in body, mind, and spirit, enabling them to thrive academically, emotionally, and spiritually.

Our College is committed to fostering an environment where students can achieve their full potential in an atmosphere of mutual respect, cooperation, and support. This nurturing environment allows our students to grow confidently as curious, inspired learners, equipped with skills for problem-solving, conceptual thinking, and self-motivated learning.

At De La Salle College, we acknowledge the significance of social and emotional well-being for our students’ success and personal development. The GROW Program, standing for “Growing Responsibility for my Own Well-being,” is meticulously designed to provide our students with essential skills and knowledge to foster their well-being in various facets of life. We are committed to nurturing capable, confident young individuals by encouraging their growth within a supportive school community. Our aim is to empower our students to gracefully navigate the challenges they encounter, both academically and in their personal lives.

At De La Salle College, we are committed to fostering a safe and inclusive environment where every student feels respected and valued. Our approach to addressing bullying is proactive and holistic, integrating principles of empathy, compassion, and accountability. Through comprehensive education programs, restorative justice practices, and strong partnerships with students, parents, and staff, we strive to prevent incidents of bullying and provide support to those affected if situations do arise.

By upholding the dignity of each individual and promoting a culture of mutual respect, we aim to empower our students to stand up against bullying and cultivate a community of kindness and understanding.

Learning Opportunities

At De La Salle College, we recognise the individuality of each student and are dedicated to helping each one realise his full potential, whatever that may be. To support this goal, our college provides a variety of educational pathways, including the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) and the VCE Vocational Major, catering to the diverse interests and aspirations of our students.

As part of the Associated Catholic College (ACC) competition, our college joins a network of 13 Catholic Secondary Schools in weekly sports fixtures across various terms. The ACC program extends beyond sports, encompassing debating, art and technology exhibitions, and music performances.

Institutional Excellence

Beginning over a century ago with 54 boys in a parish hall, our College now educates over 1,000 students across three campuses. It’s a rich history and one that informs our direction for the future.

De La Salle College is more than a Catholic Boys’ College; it’s a community where students are empowered to LEARN to their fullest potential, LIVE according to Lasallian values, and LEAD with conviction and spirit.
